- The Fair Trading Act (1986) -This protects you against being misled or treated unfairly by any retailer in NZ. The Act prohibits misleading and deceptive conduct, unsubstantiated claims, false representations and certain unfair practices. It also sets out when information about certain products must be disclosed to consumers, and helps ensure products are safe.
- Consumer Guarantees Act (1993) - Covers things like the product must be of acceptable quality and be fit for a particular purpose that you asked about. It must also match the description given in this website and be delivered in a reasonable time and if something goes wrong, you have the right to insist that the seller or service provider fixes things.
